Hostess Gift Idea for Out of State Visit
-
Hi there! Our family is heading out of state before summer wraps up to spend a weekend with some long-time friends. They’ve generously offered to host our family of five, which is so kind of them. I’m wondering what the etiquette is for contributing to the cost of groceries and other expenses.
Also, do you have any suggestions for a thoughtful host gift? I’m unsure if I should bring something on the flight or send it afterward, but I definitely don’t want to arrive empty-handed. Thanks so much!

We have sent nice steaks to out of state friends/family for gifts.
I think a little something from your state/city is nice to show up with (often can find these things in the airport) but for a real “thank you” gift, we do steaks.I would pick up the tab for dinner if y’all go out or offer to go to the grocery store and cook dinner one night if eating at home.
Just my two cents. Have fun!!

I personally really appreciate a nice olive oil or infused olive oil. I guess that would be more for driving distance but could always send to them! You can also send wine or as mentioned above, steaks.
